Very little is known about Theophilus as he is only mentioned in the bible twice, once in Luke and once in Acts. Theophilus is refered to as "most excellent Theophilus" [Luke 1:3] implying that he was a Roman official as this was a Roman title [1]. The name "Theophilus" means "Friend of God" [1] and was a common name.
